In view of the ongoing transition in terms of the CSM process and the gradual replacement of the institute of significance of change by the process of requirements capture, the requirements for the recognition or accreditation of candidates for the status of Assessment Body (AsBo) will have to be significantly expanded.
By incorporating Article 13 of Implementing Regulation 2018/545 on Requirements Capture and its full embedding in the OSS (one-stop shop) for rolling stock authorisation, the ERA significantly extends the powers and especially the responsibilities of Assessment Bodies. As the scope of their work expands and becomes increasingly important in the vehicle authorisation process, their competences also need to be extended and, at the same time, be appropriately verified during the recognition/accreditation processes.
For this reason, it is necessary to start putting a greater emphasis on the documents published by the ERA, in particular the issued AsBo Recommendation for Use concerning the work and accreditation/recognition of safety assessment bodies (AsBo). The first of these documents has already been translated and is available below.
